Guitar for Veterans

Guitars for Veterans with PTSD and Moral Injury


The Moral Injury Institute is partnering with the Center for Music Therapy and Wellness to bring veterans with PSTD and/or moral injury together to play music. Guitar for Veterans is exclusive to military veterans. This is a voluntary participation therapy group for any military veteran willing to register through the Springfield VA VetCenter(417-881-4197). There is no cost to participate. The meetings are on Wednesdays from 3:15 pm – 4:15 pm (15:15-16:15) at the Center for Music Therapy and Wellness, 1312 N Benton Ave Springfield, MO 65802. Participants can use their own guitars or a guitar can be provided to them by MII on request. Guitars for Veterans with PTSD and Moral Injury Group is modeled after best practices in the VA behavioral health and other such wellness programs that have found that music playing groups have therapeutic value for participating Veterans.
